At a Glance:

One of the first things I noticed with the Trespass Albus was how lightweight it is. The rucksack weights only 390 grams so I was unsure how well something so light would be able to withstand loading it to the full 30L capacity. On further inspection, the quality of Trespass gear shines through as the stitching is strong and the seams are sealed to give extra protection against rain or snow. There is plenty of storage and a laptop fits easily into the largest pocket quite comfortably so this will work equally as well as a work bag as it will a weekend hike backpack.

Under The Microscope - putting the Trespass Albus 30 L Rucksack through it's paces.

In order to give the Albus 30L backpack a thorough testing, we have hiked across the Campsie Fells, up around the Bracklin falls (in the pouring rain!) and across the clifftops at St. Abb's Head. We've used this consistently as a backpack for the office as well.

We put the Albus 30L through our rigorous testing criteria to evaluate it's overall performance and functionality, design and construction, our own user experience and value for money and overall, the Albus rucksack excelled on the Value for Money criteria, gaining a 5 out of 5, giving them a 4 out of 5 fireside rating overall

Performance and Functionality 🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Trespass Albus 30L is designed with portability in mind which makes it the perfect rucksack for day hikes or for using as a work or school bag. It offers a sturdy, multi-functional backpack which slips between county and city living with ease and is just at home on a hike as it is on a tube commute.

From a functionality point of view, the Albus offers up great storage with 3 separate zip pockets, one which can accommodate a laptop, an organisation pocket with key loop and a smaller front pocket with double zippers.

On the many occasions that we've used this rucksack, it's been very comfortable to wear, with generous padding on the straps, a back panel which allows air to flow freely so stops sweat building up and good, but limited waterproofing.

Design and Construction 🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Trespass Albus is made from tough 600D polyester which withstands the rigours of outdoor use well and seems to be pretty much tear and abrasion resistant. The backpack is also extremely lightweight and portable but is able to support a full loaded backpack without any signs of strain. The stitching is strong and solid and Trespass have given the back straps generous padding to help distribute weight evenly and comfortably across your back when hiking.

The Albus is not waterproof but water-resistant so it can handle light showers but it will be impacted by heavy downpours. Trespass have used sealed seams which helps prevent water penetration to a certain degree, and we have found this ourselves, but if you're planning a longer hike, it would be advisable to have a liner.

The Albus has been designed to be as spacious and give as much storage as possible and this is evident from the bungee cord on the front pocket, to the added loops and attachments on the straps, to the 3 zip pockets and the 2 side water bottle pockets. Once loaded, this small rucksack can carry enough to keep you going on a 2 day trek during the warmer months.

User Experience 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Our experience using the Trespass Albus 30L has been consistently good. It's been the perfect daypack for hiking along the cliff tops, to walking the Campsie Fells and has held up really well even in very wet conditions where the rain had only penetrated through the front pocket.

This backpack has a great amount of storage and has been well designed to give you as much room as possible with 3 zip pockets. The side mesh water bottle pockets are deep and generous and the main part of the rucksack is split into a smaller front pocket which is great for keeping your valuables, and then into 2 larger main pockets which have ample room for a change of clothing, food and a laptop, if this is your commute bag. There certainly ample room for books and iPads for college or school use.

The straps have generous padding which makes it comfortable to wear even on extended hikes and it also acts as a cushion from carrying loads of text books from school. The compression straps are handy on the side to make this as compact as possible and makes it a great carry-on for the airport.

Comparison 🔥🔥🔥🔥

The backpack market is heavily saturated and the choice on offer is huge from rucksacks that you can pick up for less than £10 to those where you are paying well into the hundreds of pounds for. The Trespass Albus tends towards the budget-conscious end of the scale but it doesn't scrimp on any of the features. Whilst it might not be as feature rich as the Berghaus 24/7 30L, which is almost double it's price, it's still an excellent rucksack for it's price point.

Value for Money 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Considering its features and the quality of materials used, the Trespass Albus 30L Rucksack offers excellent value for money. For less than £25, this rucksack offers plenty of value as it has all the components required to match some of the higher priced models on the market and provides a cost-effective solution for those seeking a durable and practical rucksack for outdoor activities or for the workplace.
