My favourite abandoned cottage nestled in the hills behind Meggat Water in the Scottish borders.
The roof has half collapsed and the front rooms are now home to birds and mice and the occasional sheep that wanders in.
There is a rogue tree growing through the fireplace which has pushed the roof slates onto the ground and ivy has started pushing through the bedroom.
The tumbling river runs right past the garden and a little rickety bridge, with wooden spars slowing rotting, takes you to the corner sheltered garden. The river is brown from the peat of the hills and bracken surrounds the old sheep pens and crumbling walls.
There's no electricy, no internet, no telephone, no heating or water - would have been magical!
